International Child Health Expert to Lead Yale World Fellows Program
Yale President Richard C. Levin has named Michael Cappello M.D., Professor of Pediatrics, Microbial Pathogenesis, and Epidemiology & Public Health at the Yale University School of Medicine, as the Director of the Yale World Fellows Program.

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is comprised of internationally recognized clinicians, researchers and educators whose work focuses on a wide range of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections. Our outpatient clinical services, which include Pediatric Infectious Diseases Consultations, Pediatric HIV/AIDS care, Pediatric Tuberculosis and International Adoption, diagnose and treat infectious diseases in children from throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. Specific areas of faculty expertise include:

  • Lyme Disease
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Acquired and congenital infections of the newborn
  • Infections in immunocompromised hosts
  • Fungal infections
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Tropical medicine and Parasitology
  • International Adoption

Meet our Pediatric Infectious Diseases Faculty

The Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Training Program has been continuously funded for over 20 years by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health. The mission of the program is to train future Infectious Diseases Pediatricians for productive and rewarding careers in research and patient care.

Research within the Division encompasses bench to bedside studies of major bacterial, viral, and parasitic diseases. Members of our faculty are actively engaged in studies of basic microbial pathogenesis, clinical and molecular epidemiology, mechanisms of antimicrobial drug resistance, and the development of new drugs and vaccines.
